My opinion on Team Fortress 2

For those of you who like games and by a slim chance are un-aware of Team Fortress 2 I guess I will attempt at an explanation... Let's see where do I start? Hmmm how about the type of game it is... IT is a first person online multiplayer shooter and in my opinion it's quite addicitve! This will be a pretty long post so if you don't want to read all that please scroll down for the overall summary.

No levels or anything like that all you need is skill, unlike in some other first person shooters all of the classes are 100% different from eachother. They don't just differenchiate in guns with the same set of grenades. In fact the only class that has access to grenades is the demoman in fact grenades are pretty much the only thing the demoman has access to aside from the bottle of what looks like whisky he uses to beet people with. Now about the maps! There are a few diferent gametypes they are: Capture the flag. But in the case of team fortress 2 you aren't really capturing a flag but you are trying to infiltrate the enemy base and steal their intelligence (A RED or BLU briefcase based on your team color that contains plans for bombs or something like that.)

And then there are Capture Point games where you must capture... erm... Capture the enemies control points or capture nuetral ones by standing on the area for a period of time.

Then there are territory games. Territory games have two teams (RED and BLU the same with all other maps) One team is defending the other is capturing. This is about defending and capturing territory. There are 3 maps all strung together the capturing and defending teams play on map 1 if the capturing team captures 1 control point on that map it CANNOT be taken back by the defending team if the defending team. Now IF the defending team defends till the time runs out and they have at least ONE control point un-controlled by the enemy team they WIN the game. However if the capturing team captures ALL the control points one map 1 they move on to map 2 where the same thing applies and then they move to map three if the capturing team captures ALL the maps they win the game!

Then there is ARENA MODE arena mode works like this: There is the RED and BLU team your goal is kill and kill and kill the enemy team but... Once your dead... Your dead... You cannot respawn in arena mode. And I guess that's about it for ARENA.

Then there is the Payload gametype where the BLU team must stand next to a cart that holds a bomb or something in order to push it down the one way track. The RED teams goal is to kill and prevent the BLU team from pushing the bomb cart thing past REDs checkpoints and eventually getting the bomb cart to the end of the level blowing up REDs base... If this happens RED fails... For RED to win they must make sure BLU does not stand next to the cart long enough to start pushing the cart toward their base. If RED does this until time runs out... They win...

Alright that was game types now let's move onto classes I will spare the large amounts of detail and just talk about the cool things hey can all do. There are 3 types of classes. Offense, Defense and Support. Let's start with offense. The 3 offense classes are the Scout Soldier and Pyro. The scout is fast agile and able to perform double jumps however he cannot sustain much damage the scout is equipped with a scattergun a baseball bat and a pistol.

The Soldier is slower than the scout and is equipped with a missile launcher a shovel and a shotgun this may sound cool at first but the missiles move slowly enough for someone to get out of the way easily if they see it coming. Soldiers can slo rocket jump by looking down jumping then shooting a rocket propelling them into the air this can be very useful for just the cost of a few health if mastered.

And then there is the pyro he... or she... (No one really knows) has a flamethrower that is capable of burning enemies at close range the pyro is also equipped with an axe and a shotgun.

Now that we have covered the offense classes let's cover the defense classes! The Demoman Engineer and Heavy make up the defensive classes.

The demoman as mentioned earlier has a grenade launcher, Stickybomb launcher and Bottle of Whisky to beat people with. The Demoman can sticky jump by launching a couple of sticky bombs on the ground running and jumping over the sticky bombs and once again this will cost you a few health but it is VERY useful if mastered. Most of the time the demoman will set stickybombs around a doorway and then wait for an enemy to run through it this requires timing as soon as an enemy runs through the doorway you must hit the right mouse button causing the sticky bombs to explode. But a warning to demomen stickybombs CAN be destroyed by enemies if they shoot them. Demomen can also use their grenade launchers to shoot up or around corners to blow up enemies without throwing themselves in the line of fire.

Now engineers are not made to be in the front lines they can build useful things for their team though such as sentry guns, teleporters and dispensers that provide provisions to nearby teammates. ALL of which can be upgraded for better efficiency.

And now the heavy. The heavy moves very slowly and he is equipped with nothing mor ethan a rapid fire minigun, a shotgun and his fists... His minigun in my opinion does not do much damage BUT if a Medic is healing a heavy and moving into the enemy base... Run for cover because they are a deadly nearly invincible combonation.

And last but certainly not least the supporitve classes! These are the Medic, Sniper and Spy.

The Medic is not good for combat but he uses his unique medi-gun to heal and overheal his teammates. The MORE he heals the more his Ubercharge bar fills up Ubercharge is deployed by right clicking while healing a teammate the ubercharge allows both the medic and the player being healed to glow a shiny RED or BLU based on your team color making you 100% UN-TOUCHABLE. This is good for running in and taking out sentry guns.

Then there is the Sniper. He has a machete a sniper rifle and a sub-mahcine gun. As his name he is made for sniping. You can right click to zoom in with the sniper rifle and in the center of the scope there is a RED or BLU dot that fills up wth a bright RED or BLU color (once again based on your team) once that fills up to 100% you can kill MOST of the classes in a single shot without having to hit their heads with the bullets. I strongly reccomend charging the rifle but if you are a really good shot just try and go for the head for an insta-kill every single time gauranteed!

And then the spy... ohhh the spy... The spy has a pistol a pocketknife a pack of cigarettes that he somehow uses to put on disguises and a sapper. The spy has the ability to disguise himself as the enemy team if he disguises as a soldier of the opposite team the spy's speed is scaled down to the soldiers speed if there are 3 soldiers on the opposite team with 3 different names the spy will take the name of an enemy soldier at random from the enemy teams soldiers. If you look at someone on your team it will display your name however it doesnt for enemies names. If you mouse over someone seemingly on your team the same class as you and they have YOUR name that is a definate giveaway of an enemy spy kill them immediately. The spy's pocketknife is not best for doing melee damage it will instantly kill anyone if you backstab them and the last of the spy's cool arsenal is the sapper. The sapper can sap or disable any of the engineers buildings but the engineer can destroy these sappers by repairing his buildings (by hitting them with a wrench) A common spy strategy for destroying sentries is to disguise (so the sentry won't shoot you) sap the sentry then backstab the engineer before he has time to repair his sentry

And one last thing ALL of the weapons I mentioned in this review were the original weapons for all the classes. Valve has released a few patches that allow you to unlock more weapons and items for the classes by completing a certain number of achievements if you want to find out more about these new items and weapons please look them up online or perhaps at the team fortress 2 website thank you for reading this extremely long review on team fortress 2 for the PC... Well that is all I have time for summary is below...

Overall summary: It's a very nice fun and addictive multiplayer first person shooter it requires some strategy most of the time Overall it's very deep with many gameplay types maps and classes with more content on the way!
